Sustainability Report 2021

Simon Møkster Shipping announces the publication of the Company’s 2021 Sustainability Report. The report presents the environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance of Simon Møkster Shipping for the calendar year 2021.

The Company continues the high focus on sustainability in all operations and in the future development of the company, with emphasis on the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the risks and opportunities related to climate change and the transition to a low-carbon society.

During 2021, battery-hybridisation systems were installed on board the Stril Luna and Stril Orion, and a shore power connection system was installed on the Stril Mar. These are important steps in reaching Simon Møkster Shipping’s ambitions of reducing GHG emissions with 40 % and carbon intensity with 70 % by 2030, further working towards net-zero by 2050.

The direct (scope 1) CO2 emissions from the fleet was reduced by 2.2 % in 2021, resulting in a total emission reduction since the 2008 baseline of 10.9 %.

Furthermore, Simon Møkster Shipping is continuing to diversify our business areas in line with the Company’s strategy of having 25 % of total revenue from non-oil and gas related activities by 2025, increasing this to 50 % by 2030. 16 % of total revenue in 2021 was from non-oil and gas related activities.
