Simon Møkster awarded Wintershall contract

Simon Møkster Shipping AS has been awarded large and important contract with Wintershall/TAC consortium.

It is with great pleasure Møkster can announce the award of a contract with Wintershall/TAC (Transeocean Arctic Consortium) for the supply ship Stril Polar and the Standby ship Ranger. In addition to Wintershall, the oil companies Lundin and VNG are participants in the consortium.
The contract period is for 10 wells with a 5 wells options. Each well is estimated to last 50 - 90 days, giving a contract length of approx. 2.5 to 3 years if all options are taken.
Stril Polar and Ranger shall serve the Transocean Arctic and the area of operations will be both the North Sea and the Barents Sea. The drilling campaign is estimated to start mid June 2012, but this is depending up many things and can be changed.
Stril Polar is a supply ship which is designed for operations i harsh and cold environments like the Barents Sea. I addition to the primary function which is supply the ship is designed for the following tasks:

*Oil recovery - NOFO 2009 standard
*Standby and rescue - 300 persons
*Fire fighting - FiFi class I+II
*Very good thruster capacity and can keep position and serve rigs in marginal conditions
*Clean design - Equipped with catalysator which reduces the NOX emissions with 90 percent

Ranger is a standby vessel which can perform life saving, fire fighting, oil recovery and towing.
