Visit of Prime Minister Erna Solberg

On Friday, January 29,  our Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg visited the Stavanger region. The reason for the visit was the increasing economic downturn and the growing unemployment figures we are experiencing in the region as a result of steadily declining oil prices.

Together with CEO Anne Jorunn Møkster the Prime Minister and the Mayor Christine Sagen Helgø first visited our vessel Stril Orion. A vessel on contract with oil company Det Norske, and also a vessel the mayor was the godmother for back in 2011.

After the vessel visit a meeting with the Prime Minister where arranged at our offices on Tasta. Present at the meeting were a number of business leaders and key persons in the region's business segments, including County Mayor Solveig Ege Tengesdal and CEO of Stavanger Næringsforening Harald Minge. All together there were 24 persons present. The theme for the meeting was to discuss measures that can be taken in order to ease the challanges we are facing in the years to come. Layoff rules was for example discussed in details.

After the meeting there was a smal press conference outside the reception area and our Prime Minister did a short photo session and she said hello to a number of our employees.
Simon Møkster Shipping appreciate the visit and hope something positive will come out of the talks and discussions that were held during the day.
